My journey:
Nearly three decades ago, I began my journey as a community pharmacist in Germany, where I discovered my passion for listening to others and supporting their healing. However, I became frustrated with the conventional approach of quick fixes through medication, realizing that finding the "right pill" often overlooked deeper issues.
After moving to Australia, I pursued a Graduate Diploma in Counselling, which emphasized experiential learning rooted in humanistic principles. This was when I truly found my calling.
I am passionate about understanding what shapes us and believe in embracing all parts of ourselves, even the aspects we may wish to hide. In my own experience, building relationships with especially these parts is essential for living authentically and wholeheartedly.
Over the years I have explored various therapeutic approaches, including Person-Centered and Emotion-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, and various ways of working with trauma. I am currently studying the Hakomi method, a gentle yet powerful form of mindful somatic psychotherapy that also incorporates parts work and deeply rooted in compassion.
If you would like to know more about the Hakomi method, the Hakomi Institute has a more detailed overview and description here.
I am dedicated to ongoing professional development and am a certified registered member of the Psychotherapy & Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).
