How I work:

When we first meet, the main focus of our work together is to develop an open and trusting relationship. I will take note of your history to get an understanding of your situation and to learn about areas of your life that are relevant to the situation you are bringing to counselling.

Together we will address the immediate reason you came to counselling for. Most people come to counselling because they feel strong emotional or physical pain, which we will listen to and make space for as much as needed.

Over time we will look at what might be in the way of your healing and also what may be needed. Often childhood events, outdated beliefs, traumas, lifestyle choices and the way we experience life get in the way of our recovery from pain and moving towards wellness physically and emotionally.

We will also explore what vision you might have of a life that you would love. It is very helpful to explore some kind of vision to work towards to and for some people this may be clearer than for others. I might also add this may not necessarily be a vision based on only external factors. It is often surprising how much of our experience of external life changes when our perceptions and experiences on the inside change.

While I bring my skills, experience, and intuition to our work together, I will be guided by you. You are the expert of your life and the one who knows best what decisions you want to make and the direction you want to take your life. However, I will be right there alongside you, to assist you in peeling away the layers that might be in the way of you seeing clearly.
